My story

About myself

My name is Stijn van der Laan, I’m 20 years old, and I really feel at home in the hospitality industry. What appeals to me most is the combination of hard work, interacting with people, and ensuring a great experience. I love being part of an environment where hospitality is key and where you achieve something together as a team.

I now have seven years of experience in the hospitality industry. I started at a snack bar, where I learned the basics, and have since advanced to a supervisory role in restaurant service. Over the years, I’ve not only gained a lot of experience but have also truly developed my skills in the field.

My educational background aligns well with this. I started at a secondary school and then moved on to the hotel school in Groningen. I am currently pursuing an Associate Degree in Hotel Management, where I combine my practical experience with theoretical knowledge of the industry.

As a person, I am open, cheerful, and energetic. I’m almost always smiling and get a lot of energy from working with people. I’m good at motivating both myself and my colleagues, and I enjoy taking on responsibility on the job.

What sets me apart is that I thrive in a busy environment. Especially when the pace picks up, I stay calm and keep a clear overview. I see it as a challenge to work with the team to ensure everything runs smoothly, even during the busiest moments.

The most important thing for me is that guests leave with a good feeling. I love contributing to that, whether it’s through service, atmosphere, or presentation. For me, the hospitality industry is all about the experience—and I’m committed to that every day.
